Four-time Olympian diving champion Pat McCormick passes away at age 92. Pat McCormick, one of the greatest and best-known American divers, died at 92. He won two straight Summer Olympics events in 1952 and 1956. It is tragic to learn that the world’s most well-known former professional diver has passed away, leaving her family and neighbourhood in ruins. As reported by the Seal Beach Sun, Pat McCormick died on Tuesday in an assisted living facility in Orange County, California. Her friend Heidi Miller posted on Facebook, “I lost a best friend of 44 years yesterday. McCormick Pat. aged 92 years. Olympian diving champion with four gold medals. 1952 & 1956. Together, we have traversed the globe. four Olympics. 3 voyages. 10 visits to Cabo”.

Patricia Joan Keller McCormick was born in Seal Beach, California, on May 12, 1930. For making dives that were off-limits to female competitors and for practising off the Los Alamitos Bridge in Long Beach, California Harbor, she attracted notice when she was a young diver in the 1930s and 1940s. She attended Woodrow Wilson Academic High School, Long Beach City College, and California State University, Long Beach. Glenn, her spouse, coached divers who won Olympic medals in diving in addition to her.
