Amancio Amaro, a former Real Madrid player, passed away.

Amancio Amaro, a former Spanish football player, tragically died at 83. Amancio, a Real Madrid icon who spent nearly 14 years playing for the team during its golden era, has passed away, devastating his supporters and family. During his time as a right-wing player, he was dubbed “El Brujo” (The Wizard) and ultimately rose to the position of club president. He started his career at the local side of Victoria CF, in the Falperra-Santa Lucia neighborhood, when he was just 15 years old. Amancio signed up with Deportivo de La Coruna, a team playing in the Spanish second division. He played for Victoria from 1954 to 1958 as a young player before playing for Deportivo La Coruna from 1958 to 1962 and Real Madrid from 1952 to 1976.

When Real Madrid acquired Amancio in June 1962, they added players like Yanko Daucik, Lucien Muller, and Ignacio Zoco. The team was going through a change after dominating the competition inside and outside of Spain. After the former football player’s passing was reported online, his fans and loved ones have paid respect to him and sent their heartfelt sympathies to his family, who are currently experiencing a trying time.
